Workforce Centers
Colorado Department of Labor and
Employment
The
Colorado Workforce Centers provide easy
access to a wide array of employment and
training services. Following a trend
initiated by the U.S. Department of Labor,
Colorado has consolidated the many
components of Job Service and Employment
and Training services to maximize its
ability to serve job seekers as well as
area employers. Trained staff at the
Centers help job seekers with your job
searches, including job counselors,
resource librarians, account
representatives, and others.
Workforce Centers offer a
variety of crucial job search resources:
orientation programs, education and
training program information, skill
assessment, job referral and placement
services, self-help resume preparation
resources, labor market information,
veterans’ benefits and services
information, and services for Unemployment
Insurance claimants. Most of the services
at the Centers are free of charge,
although there may be some service
charges.
The Center’s Resource Library offers both print and computer resources. Print
resources include: a bulletin board
with job postings, including state and
federal postings; books about the job
search, resume preparation, interview
techniques, and so on; transportation
information and bus schedules; information
about apprenticeships and internships;
newspapers, phone books, and lists of
service organizations; and adult education
and financial aid information.
Computer
resources and services include computers with Internet access;
resume writing, self-assessment, and
self-help (such as teach-yourself typing)
software; photocopiers, printers, and fax
machines; telephones and voice mailboxes
for job seekers; and sound-proof rooms for
with TV/VCRs for viewing informational
videos and practice interviewing. The
Centers also have adaptive equipment for
individuals with disabilities and career
navigators for clients with disabilities.
